About the position

The Paralegal position at Lippes Mathias LLP focuses on supporting the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. The role involves assisting attorneys with various litigation tasks, including document preparation, filing, and case management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, particularly in commercial, contract, construction, probate, and intellectual property law, and will be responsible for ensuring that legal documents are accurately prepared and filed in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the formatting, drafting, filing, and serving of pleadings and legal documents.
  • Docket and monitor calendar(s) with Case Management, Trial, and other critical deadlines.
  • File legal documents with the State and Federal Electronic Court Filing Systems.
  • Prepare, organize, and manage discovery and responsive documents.
  • Prepare deposition summaries.
  • Assist with case investigations.
  • Create and maintain electronic directories.
  • Create and maintain filing systems.
  • Prepare and send out transmittal letters.
  • Save, print, scan, and file all transmittal documents on each file.
  • Handle delivery requests when necessary.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Litigation Paralegal.
  • Experience as a Litigation Paralegal on Commercial cases is a plus.
  • Trial support experience is a plus.
  • Accurate typing speed of 65+ wpm.
  • General office and computer experience.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Experience with editing, revising, and drafting of legal documents.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules.
  • Working knowledge of Pacer Systems and ECF.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete projects with little direction.
  • Ability to use discretion and handle confidential information.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work products.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with document management systems such as ProLaw.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with litigation in Intellectual Property law.
  • Familiarity with document management systems.
