About the position

Horenstein, Nicholson & Blumenthal, a reputable midsize law firm located in downtown Dayton, is actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join our injury department, focusing on Ohio Workers' Compensation claims. This position can be filled on either a full-time or part-time basis, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking flexibility in their work schedule. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in Ohio workers' compensation law, although we are open to considering candidates who are currently pursuing a paralegal degree or have recently completed their studies in paralegal studies. As a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys by managing case files, conducting legal research, and assisting with the preparation of legal documents. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be interacting with clients, witnesses, and other legal professionals. Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis is highly desirable, along with solid computer skills to efficiently handle case management software and documentation. This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17 to $20, commensurate with experience, and the expected working hours will be between 25 to 40 hours per week. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in managing Ohio Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to cases.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in Ohio workers' compensation law preferred.
  • Completion of a paralegal degree or currently in training for a paralegal degree.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills and legal research tools.
