About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our Personal Injury Litigation department in Oakland, California. In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist clients in navigating their cases involving catastrophic motor vehicle accidents, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), major orthopedic injuries, wrongful death, and other serious personal injury claims. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that our clients receive the support they need throughout the litigation process. As a Litigation Paralegal, your daily tasks will include propounding and responding to discovery requests, managing court deadlines, and preparing essential documents for filing with the court. You will also be responsible for drafting correspondence and maintaining regular communication with clients, experts, and defense counsel in a professional and courteous manner. Additionally, you will assist with pre-trial preparations, which will involve drafting trial documents and preparing exhibits to support our cases. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently. You will be expected to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Your role will be crucial in helping our legal team achieve favorable outcomes for our clients, and you will be part of a collaborative environment that values teamwork and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Propound and respond to discovery requests.
  • Calendar and manage court deadlines.
  • Prepare documents for filing with the Court.
  • Draft correspondence and communicate with clients, experts, and defense counsel.
  • Assist with pre-trial preparation, including drafting trial documents and preparing exhibits.
  • Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in personal injury litigation, specifically in propounding and responding to discovery.
  • Extensive trial preparation experience.
  • Knowledge of California Civil Procedure and Local Court Rules.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Superior time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 WPM.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
