About the position

An efficient and experienced paralegal is needed to assist with civil litigation and transactional matters for a great company in the Suburbs of Chicago. This full-time position is located at 115 W 55th St, Clarendon Hills, IL 60514, and offers a pay rate starting from $30 an hour. The role requires a paralegal secretary who can effectively manage various tasks related to both corporate and litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience working in a law firm or in-house department, demonstrating a strong understanding of legal procedures and documentation. The paralegal secretary will be responsible for answering telephones, screening calls, processing incoming mail, and maintaining electronic files. In addition, the role involves specific corporate and transactional duties such as maintaining files for all corporate entities, organizing new companies in various jurisdictions, preparing and filing Annual Reports, and maintaining corporate/company books. The candidate will also assist with real estate matters, including transactions, closings, and property management tasks. In terms of litigation, the paralegal will maintain and process files for all litigation matters, mastering the rules of Illinois civil procedure and court protocols. Responsibilities include preparing and filing pleadings and motions, communicating with court personnel, preparing subpoenas, notarizing documents, and assisting with trial preparation. The position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, allowing the paralegal to focus on supporting attorneys and managing legal documentation efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephones and screen calls

  • Organize new companies in various jurisdictions
  • Prepare and file Annual Reports in various jurisdictions
  • Maintain corporate/company books (i.e. preparation of corporate minutes/resolutions)
  • Conduct corporate file audits
  • Assist with real estate transactions/closings and property management tasks
  • Maintain and process files for all litigation matters
  • Master rules of Illinois civil procedure
  • Master court/sheriff procedures/protocol/rules for various counties
  • Prepare and file pleadings/motions (using a model provided by attorney)/discovery
  • Communicate with court personnel (judges/clerks)
  • Prepare subpoenas / notarize documents
  • Prepare and register judgments in foreign jurisdictions
  • Locate and identify outside counsel to assist with out of state litigation matters
  • Assist with trial preparation (copies, organize file, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary

Requirements
