About the position

The Paralegal Specialist position at the State of Connecticut's Workers' Compensation Commission (WCC) is a full-time role that offers an exciting opportunity for skilled paralegals with experience in applying statutes and regulations. The WCC is a quasi-judicial agency responsible for adjudicating disputed workers' compensation claims and administering various programs. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a legal environment and have a strong background in drafting and reviewing legal documents. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including reviewing and processing stipulations, motions, and orders, preparing subpoenas and files for appellate review, and communicating directly with claimants who are not represented by attorneys. Additionally, the Paralegal Specialist will draft correspondence and other documentation for Administrative Law Judges, facilitating the workers' compensation hearing process. To achieve this, the Commission facilitates voluntary agreements, adjudicates disputes, makes findings and awards, hears and rules on appeals, and closes out cases through stipulated settlements.
