About the position

CGS is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join a fast-paced and hard-working team to assist with various legal accounts. As a Paralegal, you will play a key role in supporting different aspects of the company's portfolio. CGS brings together motivated, highly skilled, and creative individuals to solve the government's most dynamic problems using cutting-edge technology. We are looking for candidates who are excited to contribute to government innovation, appreciate collaboration, and can anticipate the needs of others. Our environment is designed to support our employees, and we encourage professional growth through various learning opportunities. The Contractor will provide professional, accurate, timely, and reliable paralegal support, reporting to the Office of General Counsel (OGC) and will be detailed to assist the Litigation Branch (LITB) or the Information Assurance and Legal Branch (IALB). Work products will be reviewed prior to submission; however, personnel resources provided by the Contractor will often develop these products with minimal direct supervision, guided by written guidelines. Personnel assigned to this task must have the ability to adjust to changing priorities and work well under pressure. The General Paralegal Task includes, but is not limited to, receiving, prioritizing, and processing requests such as document reviews or requests for legal advice or technical assistance. The Contractor will research and locate responsive information documents and identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles. Typical paralegal functions will include moderately complex legal research, synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use, reviewing case-related materials, and identifying potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation. The Contractor will also write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence, assist in preparing draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and memoranda of law, and conduct legal analysis while reviewing documents for relevance and privilege. Additionally, the Contractor will assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, review materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege, prepare privilege logs, and maintain documentation of records produced in discovery, correspondence sent, and case management functions performed. The role will also involve assisting in the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds, designing, generating, and transmitting reports regarding case assignments and productivity using case management databases, and analyzing and interpreting requests from customers.
