About the position

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal with a minimum of 2 years in the legal field to join a well-established law firm in Pittsburgh, PA. This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to advance their legal careers and make a significant impact within a reputable firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to Shareholders and Attorneys, ensuring that all legal processes are handled efficiently and effectively. The role involves a variety of tasks including the creation and preparation of Excel documents, data input, and the use of simple formulas. The Paralegal will also be tasked with typing pleadings, briefs, and correspondence, as well as proofreading documents to ensure accuracy. Familiarity with PDF documents is essential, as the position requires converting Word documents to PDF, extracting pages, and creating forms. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for tracking changes, formatting, and printing Word documents. Drafting and preparing legal documents and correspondence is a key responsibility, along with filing pleadings with courts and administrative agencies, including e-filing. The Paralegal will process new client matters, coordinate the opening of new files, and maintain client files meticulously. Other duties include entering, reviewing, and correcting attorneys' time entries, preparing and submitting expense reports, scheduling client meetings, managing calendars, and making travel arrangements. The role also requires organizing documents and files, preparing files for off-site storage, and maintaining logs for files sent off-site. The Paralegal will provide coverage for the reception desk when needed, which includes answering phones and greeting clients. Collaboration with other assistants and staff is essential to ensure smooth operations within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative support to Shareholders and Attorneys at the firm.
  • Creating and preparing Excel documents; data input and simple formulas.

  • Working with PDF documents; converting Word documents to PDF, extracting pages, and creating forms.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a Paralegal in a law firm setting.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Impeccable organizational and communication skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to strictly maintain client and firm confidentiality.
  • A client-focused attitude, flexibility, and the ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively within a team.
  • A satisfactory result on a post-offer background screening.
