In this role, the Paralegal will be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting various legal documents such as demands, memos, discovery requests, and responses, as well as preparing for hearings and trials. The Paralegal will also assist in organizing files, docketing events, and filling out legal forms, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. The position requires a proactive approach to managing case files and communicating effectively with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on their cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal drafting and a minimum of four years of experience working in a Texas law firm. A Paralegal Certificate or a Bachelor's degree is preferred, as these qualifications will enhance the candidate's ability to perform the required tasks efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Organizing files
  • Docketing (scheduling) events
  • Filling out legal forms and assisting clients with filling out forms
  • Drafting correspondence relating to legal matters
  • Drafting demand letters
  • Drafting letters and simple court documents for attorney review
  • Writing reports and legal documents for attorney review
  • Conducting thorough legal research into new and novel issues, verifying case law, and reviewing legislation
  • Creating medical records summaries and chronologies
  • Preparing reduction spreadsheets and correspondence
  • Preparing settlement and case conclusion letters for providers and clients
  • Updating Master Case Spreadsheets contemporaneously
  • Preparing discovery and responses to discovery demands
  • Meeting with clients to review discovery responses
  • Communicating with clients with updates and gathering information
  • Helping attorneys prepare cases for hearings
  • Assisting lawyers in the courtroom
  • Providing backup for Legal Assistant tasks, including e-filing checks, updating files, answering phones, and scheduling
  • Performing other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a Texas law firm
  • Strong legal drafting skills
  • Ability to conduct legal research
