About the position

As a paralegal at Karen D. Wood & Associates, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys in managing a fast-paced civil litigation docket. This position is based in our San Diego, CA office and requires a minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense. You will be responsible for drafting discovery documents, preparing for trials, summarizing medical records, and assisting in motion writing under the direction of attorneys. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in managing a fast-paced litigation docket.

  • Work autonomously while being a member of a cohesive team.
  • Utilize strong computer skills in an electronic/digital environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of recent experience in civil litigation practice, preferably in insurance defense.
  • Undergraduate degree and/or paralegal certificate required.
  • Demonstrated legal knowledge in the practice of litigation and conducting discovery in California.
  • Familiarity with Court Rules and Procedures.
  • Ability to work autonomously while being a member of a cohesive team.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Candidates must meet the California Business & Professions Code §6450 for paralegals requirements.
