About the position

Vaco is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join our team in downtown Jacksonville, FL. This full-time, direct hire opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to contribute to a fast-growing firm. As a Paralegal, you will be assigned to perform billable tasks in support of one or more lawyers, ensuring that you serve the clients of the firm to the best of your ability. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of work performed for each client and the time expended on each matter throughout the workday. Your role will encompass a variety of tasks, including conducting fact investigations and analyses, performing background checks for parties and witnesses, and obtaining necessary documents and physical evidence from third parties. You will also be tasked with analyzing and summarizing documentary evidence, preparing chronologies, and drafting non-party discovery requests such as subpoenas and notices of deposition. Additionally, you will summarize depositions and medical documentary evidence, analyze billing records, and prepare trial, mediation, and deposition notebooks. Organizing and preparing exhibits, witness data, and legal authority will also be part of your responsibilities. To excel in this position, you should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a litigation team. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate well under pressure with minimal supervision are essential. You should be highly motivated and possess experience in assisting attorneys with trial preparations, drafting legal documents, e-filing with state and federal courts, and managing cases from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fact investigation and analysis
  • Conduct background investigation for parties and/or witnesses
  • Obtain photographs, documents, and physical evidence from third-parties
  • Analyze and summarize documentary evidence, including preparation of chronologies
  • Prepare non-party discovery requests such as subpoenas, notices of deposition, records requests, authorizations, etc.
  • Summarize depositions and medical documentary evidence
  • Analyze billing documentary evidence
  • Prepare trial notebooks, mediation notebooks, and/or deposition notebooks
  • Organize and prepare exhibits, witness data, and legal authority

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in insurance defense litigation is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
