About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a law office environment and possess strong skills in legal research, data entry, and project management. This role is essential in supporting attorneys with various legal tasks, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and timely.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw to support case preparation.
  • Assist attorneys in drafting, reviewing, and filing legal documents.
  • Transcribe legal documents and maintain accurate records of case files.
  • Manage case files, ensuring all documentation is organized and up-to-date.
  • Provide support in areas such as Patent law and Workers Compensation law.
  • Coordinate with clients and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for cases.
  • Assist in project management tasks related to ongoing legal matters.
  • Make sure docket control order deadlines are met.
  • Prepare correspondence to clients regarding trial notices, docket control orders, etc.
  • Prepare reports for clients (initial evaluations, pre-mediation, pre-trial).
  • Prepare confidential mediation statements to mediators.
  • Prepare discovery to plaintiffs.
  • Prepare initial disclosures, discovery answers, expert designations, some motions.
  • Order medical/billing records.
  • Contact with expert witnesses (forward medical/billing records for their review).
  • Prepare trial notebook.
  • Workers Compensation - Benefit Review Conference/Contested Case Hearing exchanges for carriers.

Requirements

  • Experience in a law office environment.
  • Strong skills in legal research, data entry, and project management.
  • Proficient in data entry with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to transcribe documents accurately.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools, particularly Westlaw.
  • Knowledge of Patent law and Workers Compensation law is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
