The Paralegal position in New York, NY, is a contract role that involves assisting attorneys with various aspects of pending litigation actions. The primary responsibilities include preparing and drafting pleadings, as well as responses to discovery demands that are served on or by the Company. The role requires handling extensive document production and coordinating the preparation of information in an efficient and timely manner. Additionally, the paralegal will maintain case files and coordinate with management personnel to provide necessary documents in response to discovery requests. The position also involves analyzing documents and cataloging exhibits, performing legal research, and cite-checking briefs. The paralegal will be responsible for preparing all required legal documents and monitoring cases while handling other tasks related to litigation support. Other responsibilities include initiating and maintaining legal holds using specialized software, having knowledge of court deadlines, reviewing the CPLR and other court/procedural rules related to deadlines and submission requirements, and calendaring deadlines. The candidate will also maintain electronic document repositories and document review platforms/software, as well as handle e-filing of documents on PACER and NYSEF. A strong background in drafting discovery responses and various types of motions is essential for this role.
