Additionally, the position necessitates billing time for the work performed, which is a critical aspect of the role. The primary responsibilities of the paralegal include drafting various legal documents such as memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence. The paralegal will also be responsible for organizing, charting, and processing incoming records and invoices, as well as following up on outstanding records through various communication methods including telephone, email, and regular mail. Managing a large caseload while working with multiple attorneys is essential, as is reviewing documents for relevance and privilege in preparation for disclosure. The paralegal will conduct case law research using Lexis and public access websites to assist in developing defense strategies and will assist attorneys in preparing for mediation and trial.
