About the position

We are seeking an experienced paralegal to join our firm who specializes in handling plaintiff personal injury cases, medical malpractice, and products liability. This position requires a strong understanding of medical records, pleadings, and interrogatories, as well as excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. The successful candidate will assist attorneys in the research and preparation of cases, ensuring that all legal documents are meticulously drafted and organized. This role is crucial in managing an active caseload and facilitating effective communication with clients and other parties involved in the legal process. The paralegal will be responsible for reviewing, organizing, and analyzing complex medical records and legal documents. They will draft pleadings, discovery requests, and responses, and manage interrogatories, including preparing responses and serving them on appropriate parties. Regular communication with clients, expert witnesses, healthcare providers, and other legal counsel is essential to ensure that all aspects of the case are handled efficiently. The paralegal will also prepare and coordinate court filings, manage litigation timelines, and facilitate depositions and other meetings, preparing necessary materials for trial as needed. This position requires a proactive approach to case management, working collaboratively with the legal team to ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on time. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in the research and preparation of cases pertaining to plaintiffs personal injury, medical malpractice, and products liability.
  • Review, organize, and analyze complex medical records, legal documents, and other case-related material.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
  • Manage interrogatories, including preparing responses and serving them on appropriate parties.
  • Regularly communicate with clients, expert witnesses, healthcare providers, and other legal counsel.
  • Maintain and manage an active caseload, meet deadlines, and multitask effectively.
  • Prepare and coordinate the preparation of court filings and effectively manage litigation timelines.
  • Facilitate depositions and other meetings, and prepare materials for trial as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure efficient and effective case management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate required.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience as a paralegal handling personal injury, medical malpractice, and products liability cases.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles.
  • Strong understanding of medical records, pleadings, and interrogatories.
  • Excellent legal research skills and the ability to understand complex medical and legal information.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, legal research platforms, and case management software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, able to comfortably articulate information to attorneys, clients, and court officials.
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and maintain deadlines in a fast-paced, professional environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Personal Injury Law, Personal Injury Litigation, and Personal Injury Plaintiffs
  • Experience in Medical Malpractice and Products Liability Law
  • Understanding of Products Liability is a plus
  • Prior experience in a similar role is beneficial
