About the position

Babin Law, LLC is seeking an experienced paralegal to support its growing litigation and mass tort practice. The role involves managing all stages of claims, from intake through resolution, and requires strong organizational and communication skills to effectively assist attorneys and clients throughout the legal process.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all stages of a claim, including intake, pre-litigation, litigation, and resolution.
  • Order reports, medical records, and bills; summarize medical records; draft demand letters; prepare discovery; negotiate subrogation liens; create damage charts and spreadsheets; prepare settlement memoranda; maintain and organize files.
  • Communicate with clients, answer phones, screen calls, draft and send letters.
  • File electronically in federal and state court, familiar with local rules, and file and serve complaints.
  • Update and manage trial calendar, ensuring accuracy and importance of scheduling.
  • Conduct legal research and writing, drafting legal memos and documents, plaintiff fact sheets, short form complaints, proposed judgments, and non-dispositive motions; edit and proofread all written material.
  • Track all hours in case management software for billing purposes.
  • Prepare trial binders, prep witnesses, create PowerPoints, and prepare exhibits.
  • Set hearings, depositions, and mediations, ensuring all parties are informed and prepared.
  • Draft and send notices of deposition, subpoenas, and other discovery-related communications.
  • File documents to the court system promptly and accurately.
  • Perform data entry duties and organize electronic case files efficiently.
  • Collect, review, and organize documents related to discovery requests and responses.
  • Review and analyze documents and evidence obtained through discovery for relevance and importance to the case.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years experience as a Litigation Paralegal or at least 6 years of prior legal experience working directly with clients.
  • Associate's degree or higher in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
