About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal to provide essential support to attorneys, particularly in the area of family law. This temporary contract position involves handling legal filings, assisting in the discovery process, and ensuring compliance with legal standards. The role offers an opportunity to gain experience in family law while working in a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic support to attorneys in our team, primarily those specializing in family law.
• Handle legal filings in an organized and timely manner.
• Assist in the discovery process by gathering and analyzing evidence.
• Maintain a strong knowledge of electronic filing systems and use them effectively.
• Respond to discovery requests in accordance with legal standards and deadlines.
• Support the main attorney in managing family law cases.
• Be open to learning and gaining more experience in family law.
• Ensure all work is in compliance with the applicable legal standards.
• Manage and maintain accurate records.
• Resolve customer inquiries efficiently.

Requirements

• Proficient in Family Law
• Skilled in managing Electronic Files
• Experience with the Discovery process
• Ability to draft legal documents and correspondence
• Knowledge of legal terminology and protocols
• Strong research skills
• Proficient in MS Office and legal research software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Compliance with ethical standards of the legal profession
• Bachelor's degree in Law or related field is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience as a Paralegal or in a similar role is advantageous.
• Familiarity with the court filing system is beneficial.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Willingness to continually update knowledge of laws and legal practices.
