About the position

The Defense Paralegal position is designed for a motivated individual to support a fast-paced legal practice specializing in Insurance Defense Litigation, particularly in Transportation and Personal Injury cases. The role involves working closely with attorneys to manage cases from inception to resolution, ensuring that all legal documentation and processes are handled efficiently and accurately. This position offers a hybrid work schedule and opportunities for professional growth within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in preparing and organizing cases for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
• Order and summarize records related to cases.
• Prepare affidavits and correspondence as needed.
• Conduct legal research and summarize depositions.
• E-file pleadings and manage court document submissions.
• Schedule meetings and maintain communication with attorneys and clients.
• Summarize cases and prepare reports for attorneys.
• Draft legal documents such as contracts, depositions, and pleadings.
• Organize and archive documents related to completed and ongoing cases.
• Conduct client interviews and maintain general contact with clients.
• Locate and interview witnesses and conduct investigations.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in Insurance Defense Litigation.
• Excellent computer and typing skills.
• Strong organizational skills and understanding of litigation flow.
• Ability to manage cases from beginning to end.
• Demonstrated urgency and initiative in performing tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a high-volume legal environment.
• Familiarity with e-filing systems and legal research tools.
