About the position

Alaska Air Group is seeking a Paralegal to join the Legal team, providing legal and administrative support to the Commercial Legal team. This role focuses on assisting with a wide range of transactions and commercial matters, particularly related to the aircraft fleet. The position requires collaboration with attorneys in contract negotiations and project management, ensuring compliance and effective communication with internal business clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Commercial attorneys with the contracting process.
  • Support attorneys and other legal professionals in contract negotiations.
  • Manage general project management tasks as assigned.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts and other legal documents.
  • Advise internal business clients on contract interpretations and compliance.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel.

Requirements

  • 2 years of paralegal experience in transactions in a law firm or in-house legal environment (for Paralegal role).
  • 4 years of paralegal experience in transactions in a law firm or in-house legal environment (for Senior Paralegal role).
  • Bachelor's degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • A paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program or relevant training/experience in lieu of this certification.
  • Resourceful and capable of working independently and prioritizing work.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly with senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and adapt to various work styles in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with aircraft fleet or complex financial transactions.
  • Proficiency with contract lifecycle management and document management software.
  • Experience working with standard agreements such as NDAs.
  • Experience with corporate organizational matters.
  • Experience with IP portfolio management.
