The Paralegal at Hall Booth Smith, P.C. plays a crucial role in supporting attorneys through various aspects of litigation, including case preparation, management, and execution. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of legal principles and practices, which is typically acquired through an associate's degree or a certified paralegal education. The paralegal will be responsible for obtaining, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing legal documentation related to cases, ensuring that all necessary information is organized and accessible for the attorney team. In addition to document management, the paralegal will schedule depositions and meetings with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel. They will also identify and evaluate potential experts, track document requests, and proactively work to advance cases. Regular communication with clients regarding the status of their cases is essential, as is participation in discovery and trial preparation. The paralegal may also prepare draft discovery documents and maintain an expert database, conducting research on opposing counsel's experts as needed. Clerical duties such as typing, filing, and entering billable time into the computer system are also part of the role. The paralegal must meet a minimum billing requirement of 140 hours per month, which is not reduced by any time off or training. Non-billable functions may include participation in strategic committees, seminar development, and mentoring new employees.
