The Paralegal position at BCforward in Saint Paul, MN, involves a critical role in the ingestion process of legal orders. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing documents received through shared email or platforms, creating cover letters that include document classification and essential metadata. This information will then be processed through an OCR system for integration into a legal database. The role may also require scanning documents received in the office, ensuring that all legal documentation is accurately ingested, classified, and uploaded into the database. In addition to document management, the Paralegal will handle incoming service documents, including new summons and complaints, ensuring they are scanned, inputted, and uploaded into the legal database efficiently. A significant part of the role involves performing risk analysis on pleadings and routing the legal processes to the appropriate internal or external resources. The Paralegal will also conduct legal research on various related matters, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the legal team. This position is expected to last for three months, with a target start date of September 16, 2024. The role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining effective communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal documentation processes and the ability to perform thorough research and analysis.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Six months to two years of experience in legal documentation activities.
  • Paralegal certificate or legal secretary certification.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform research and analysis.
  • General knowledge of legal and regulatory issues.
