About the position

The Legal Department Paralegal/Administrator at ChemTreat will play a crucial role in supporting the Platform Legal and Compliance team, as well as collaborating with various business functions such as Finance, Supply Chain/Procurement, HR, and Internal Audit. This position is designed for a dynamic individual who thrives in a responsive and collaborative environment, demonstrating high agility and professionalism. The role is integral to promoting efficient operations and supporting legal and compliance initiatives within the organization. In this position, you will be responsible for providing a range of paralegal and administrative support. Your daily tasks will include direct support to the legal department on corporate, litigation, and compliance matters, as well as managing the subsidiary management program and coordinating process improvements and audits across the enterprise. You will assist in the contract review process, ensuring that requests are complete and effectively communicating with the appropriate parties. Additionally, you will maintain legal department files and manage a contracts management system, review and draft responses for various legal requests, and aid legal team members with scheduling and logistical tasks. This role requires a proactive approach to processing invoices from outside counsel and legal vendors, assisting in implementing electronic billing and budget management, and drafting legal-related reports, policies, and training materials. You will also assist with the development of project plans for the legal team, including timelines and milestones, and conduct basic legal research as needed. The position is based in Glen Allen, Virginia, and will require on-site presence, contributing to a friendly and supportive team environment that values sustainability and flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct and efficient support to the legal department on all corporate, litigation, and compliance matters.
  • Supporting subsidiary management program and coordinating process improvements and audits across the enterprise.
  • Assisting with the contract review process, including reviewing requests, corresponding with parties, assigning requests, maintaining deadlines, and formatting final documents.
  • Creating and maintaining legal department files and managing a contracts management system.
  • Reviewing and drafting responses for various legal requests, such as letters and certifications, insurance, and corporate reporting.
  • Aiding legal team members with scheduling, planning, coordination, and other logistical tasks.
  • Processing invoices from outside counsel and other legal vendors and assisting in implementing electronic billing and budget management.
  • Drafting, editing, and proofreading legal-related reports, policies, communications, and training materials.
  • Assisting with the development of legal team project plans, including timelines and milestones and status tracking.
  • Assisting with basic legal research.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience in the legal department of a corporation as a paralegal (5 to 7 years' experience preferred).
  • Associate degree or Paralegal Certificate required (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint), and database software.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to assist with and prioritize multiple projects contemporaneously.
  • Ability to conduct basic legal research and strong attention to detail.
