About the position

Amentum is seeking qualified Paralegals to support the US Attorney's Office in Washington, DC, specifically for complex criminal matters. The role involves a variety of responsibilities that are critical to the success of the case team. Paralegals will be tasked with supporting the case team by tracking data delivered to ensure it is processed appropriately within established workflows. This includes performing database searches and exporting reports using established network databases such as Westlaw, Lexis, Relativity, and CaseView. In addition to data management, the position requires performing litigation support tasks, which encompass discovery productions and a detailed review and analysis of case materials across a broad range of subject matters. Paralegals will support investigative and trial teams by preparing necessary documents for the legal team, organizing subpoena returns, assisting in discovery productions, and sorting documents for trial binders. Drafting documents for litigation support assignments is also a key responsibility, along with proofreading and editing deliverable products and entering data into case management systems. The role further involves preparing documents for scanning, conducting document collection activities such as OCRing documents, and redacting and labeling files. Paralegals will be expected to complete and submit forms, reports, correspondence, and other documents within established deadlines. Detailed indexing of case files and creating witness binders are also part of the job. Additionally, they will serve as first-level reviewers, following guidance from team leads to redact specific language as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Support the case team and track data delivered to ensure it is placed into the appropriate processing workflow.
  • Perform database searches, exports reports, and other data retrieval assignments using established network databases including Westlaw, Lexis, Relativity, and CaseView.
  • Perform litigation support tasks, including discovery productions and detailed review and analysis of case materials.
  • Support investigative and trial teams by preparing documents for the legal team, uploading/organizing subpoena returns, preparing discovery, and assisting in discovery productions.
  • Sort documents for trial binders and draft documents for litigation support assignments.
  • Proofread and edit deliverable products, and enter data into case management systems.
  • Prepare documents for scanning and perform other document collection related activities, including OCRing documents, redacting, and labeling of files.
  • Complete and submit forms, reports, correspondence, and other documents within established deadlines.
  • Complete detailed indexing of case files and create witness binders.
  • Create logs for subpoena returns and discovery purposes.
  • Serve as first level reviewers, following team lead guidance to redact specific language.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization; US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Three years of experience on major litigation support projects or an undergraduate degree.
  • Certain assignments may require experience or substantial undergraduate coursework in finance/accounting, health care, or substantial experience in the legal environment or in information technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Excellent writing skills and oral communication capabilities are required.
  • Hands-on familiarity with the Government's office and network environment, including data processing environments, office automation networks, PC-based databases, and other applications.
  • Knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware systems.
