About the position

The Family Law Paralegal position at a high-profile family law firm in Frisco, Texas, is designed for an experienced individual who will assist attorneys with various legal tasks related to family law cases. The role emphasizes a supportive and productive work culture, focusing on high-profile cases from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare a diverse range of legal documents including pleadings, motions, and court orders.
  • Handle client correspondence and prepare relevant spreadsheets and documents for inventory and appraisal.
  • Coordinate the delivery of subpoenas to witnesses.
  • Conduct initial calls with potential new clients and prepare attorneys for the initial consultation.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for mediations, depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences.
  • Assist clients in complying with discovery requests and compiling the requested documents.
  • Summarize legal documents and depositions for attorney review.
  • Prepare exhibits for trials and manage docket deadlines.
  • Prepare documents for filing with the court and handle e-filing of documents.
  • Utilize case management software for efficient handling of cases and maintain accurate client records.
  • Manage calendar for attorneys to ensure all due dates are met.

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of three years of experience in a family law paralegal role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Case Management Software.
  • Solid understanding of the Texas Family Code and the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure is needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with clients, attorneys, and court officials.
  • Experience in Family Law, including divorce, custody, and domestic abuse cases.
  • Knowledge and experience in Civil Litigation, assisting in the preparation of legal documents, gathering evidence, and conducting research.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and conduct work in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Certification from an accredited Paralegal program would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, showing initiative and problem-solving skills.
