About the position

The Paralegal at CommonSpirit Health plays a crucial role in supporting the legal team by providing paralegal assistance across various functional areas, including Operations, Real Estate, Labor and Employment, Compliance, Managed Care, E-Discovery, and Transactions. This position is designed for individuals who are detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The Paralegal will work under the supervision of one or more attorneys, assisting in the preparation of legal documents, conducting legal research, and maintaining legal files in an electronic filing system. In this role, the Paralegal will be responsible for managing the construction contracting process and will be an integral part of the Real Estate Center of Excellence (RECOE). This includes preparing a variety of legal documents such as agreements, corporate documents, forms, and legal memoranda, utilizing templates and standard provisions approved by the Legal Team leadership. The Paralegal will also be expected to effectively communicate with other team members and clients, ensuring that sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately. The position requires a commitment to service and professionalism, with an emphasis on maintaining confidentiality and supporting positive relationships within the organization. The Paralegal will also have opportunities to contribute to team-building efforts and participate in various initiatives that align with CommonSpirit Health's mission and values. Responsibilities

  • Provide paralegal support under the supervision of CommonSpirit Health attorneys.
  • Manage the construction contracting process.
  • Prepare a variety of legal documents, including agreements and corporate documents.
  • Maintain legal files in an electronic filing system and ensure proper indexing and filing of legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis of applicable laws using various resources.
  • Communicate effectively with Legal Team members and clients, as directed by supervising attorney.
  • Assist with drafting and updating contract templates and enhancing record maintenance.
  • Participate in team-building efforts and contribute to Legal Team initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study and paralegal certificate, or an Associate degree in paralegal studies with two years of relevant work experience, or a paralegal certificate with two years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Westlaw, and Lexis-Nexis.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Legal knowledge appropriate for the assigned specialty, such as healthcare regulation, labor and employment law, or real estate law.
  • Analytic skills to identify key legal issues and communicate them effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare regulation and operations.
