About the position

The Paralegal position at Greenfield Staffing Solutions is a full-time role based in St. Louis, MO, designed for individuals with a strong background in litigation support. This hybrid position requires the new hire to initially work full-time in the office to acclimate to the firm’s culture, processes, and to build relationships with the team. The successful candidate will support multiple attorneys simultaneously, primarily serving clients in the insurance defense sector. The firm values quality work and expects the paralegal to take pride in their contributions, ensuring that all output accurately represents the firm’s standards. In this role, the paralegal will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are critical to the legal process. Key duties include drafting legal memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence. The paralegal will also organize and process incoming records and invoices, follow up on outstanding records through various communication methods, and prepare answers and correspondence. Managing a large caseload while collaborating with multiple attorneys is essential, as is reviewing documents for relevance and privilege in preparation for disclosure. Additionally, the paralegal will conduct case law research using Lexis and public access websites to assist in developing defense strategies and will help prepare attorneys for mediation and trial by retrieving and managing documents within the firm’s document management system.

Responsibilities

  • Draft legal memoranda including pleadings, discovery demands and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and discovery motions.
  • Organize, chart, and process incoming records and invoices.
  • Follow up for outstanding records via telephone, e-mail, and regular mail.
  • Prepare answers and correspondence.
  • Manage a large caseload while working with multiple attorneys.
  • Review documents for relevance and privilege in preparation for disclosure.
  • Conduct case law research using Lexis and public access websites to assist with defense strategies.
  • Assist with preparing attorneys for mediation and trial.
  • Retrieve documents from and save to the document management system.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
  • Billing experience.
  • Experience in drafting legal documents.
  • Familiarity with courts, including e-filing.
  • Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
