The Paralegal will support attorneys in handling medical malpractice cases by performing various legal and administrative tasks. The Paralegal will play a crucial role in ensuring that all aspects of case preparation and management are handled meticulously, contributing to the overall success of the legal team. This position demands a proactive approach to legal support, with an emphasis on thoroughness and attention to detail in all tasks undertaken. In this role, the Paralegal will assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing case files, drafting legal documents, and ensuring all necessary evidence is collected and reviewed. Legal research will be a significant part of the job, requiring the Paralegal to conduct thorough investigations into medical malpractice claims, including reviewing case law, statutes, and regulations to support case strategies. Document management is another key responsibility, where the Paralegal will draft, review, and file legal documents such as complaints, motions, and discovery requests, while maintaining and updating case files to ensure accuracy and organization. Client interaction is also a vital aspect of this position, as the Paralegal will communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates on case status, and answer general inquiries. Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion is paramount. Additionally, the Paralegal will analyze and summarize medical records and other relevant documentation to identify critical information pertinent to the case. Court filings will be prepared and filed, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines. Administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, depositions, and court appearances, as well as coordinating with medical experts and other witnesses, will also be part of the role. Finally, the Paralegal will track case deadlines and manage case calendars to ensure timely completion of tasks and adherence to legal procedures.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent experience; a Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably in a medical malpractice or personal injury law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
  • Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and medical professionals.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing case documentation and legal processes.
