About the position

Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, is seeking a full-time temporary Paralegal to join the Litigation Department in our Phoenix office. This position is designed to provide organizational and practice-specific assistance to attorneys throughout the litigation process, from the onset of cases through to post-trial activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in an organized and efficient manner. This role is part of a Shared Services team that supports litigators across the firm, primarily in a remote capacity. Flexibility to work overtime as needed is also a requirement of this position. As a Litigation Paralegal, you will be responsible for assisting attorneys at all stages of litigation cases, overseeing the organization and maintenance of case-related documents, and managing the discovery process. You will prepare for depositions, propound and respond to written discovery, and assist with expert discovery. Your role will also involve conducting document reviews, preparing witness interview memoranda, and performing basic legal research. You will assist with law and motion practice, draft pleadings and motions, and ensure compliance with federal and state rules of procedure. In addition to these responsibilities, you will assist in trial preparations, create trial notebooks, coordinate witness schedules, and maintain trial calendars. You will also be involved in post-trial filings and organizing cases for appeal if necessary. Maintaining accurate timekeeping records and assisting with other departmental activities as needed will also be part of your duties. This position requires a proactive approach and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Assists attorneys in all stages of litigation cases from onset through post-trial
  • Oversees organization, maintenance and appropriate utilization of documents and other case-related materials
  • Assists and manages the discovery process, prepares for depositions, propounds and responds to written discovery
  • Oversees and conducts document reviews and document productions; prepares documentation regarding criteria changes
  • Performs analytical tasks, prepares witness interview memoranda, reviews and summarizes documents, deposition, court transcripts
  • Assists with basic legal research, including locating cases, statutes and regulatory materials
  • Assists with law and motion practice, assembles motion papers and exhibits, coordinates filings of pleadings and briefs
  • Drafts common pleadings, motions, notices and other court filings
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state rules of procedure and evidence for document format, content, filing, etc.
  • Performs and oversees both simple and complex authority and fact cite-checking; confirms case quotes, proofreads briefs and other legal documents
  • Assists and manages trial preparations, creates trial notebooks, identifies and organizes exhibits, coordinates witness schedules
  • Assists in preparation of post-trial filings including briefing, motions for costs and sanctions, etc.
  • Maintains timely and accurate timekeeping records on a daily basis
  • Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal within a law firm
  • Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly
  • Trial experience, including exhibit preparation, witness preparation and management
  • Knowledge of subpoena preparation and experience working with judicial assistants
  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Proficiency with E-filing and litigation support applications such as Relativity, Opus 2 and Adobe Acrobat
