About the position

The position of Paralegal at TEL Staffing in Miramar Beach, FL, involves providing essential support to multiple attorneys across various practice areas. The primary responsibilities include the preparation of legal documents, correspondence, and conducting factual investigations. The paralegal will serve a dual role, functioning both as a paralegal and a legal assistant, which encompasses general assistant duties such as filing, scanning, scheduling, and answering phones. This role is critical in ensuring that the attorneys can focus on their legal work while the paralegal manages the administrative and preparatory tasks that are vital to the legal process. In this position, the paralegal will be expected to draft and prepare a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, orders, settlement demands, and correspondence. Additionally, the role involves drafting contracts and estate planning documents, preparing discovery requests and responses, and screening client calls to gather necessary intake information. The paralegal will also be responsible for editing and proofreading documents, conducting legal research related to pleading and motion preparation, and managing the filing and scanning of documents. Effective calendaring and deadline management are essential, as the paralegal will schedule client meetings, hearings, mediations, and depositions, while also performing conflict checks and electronically filing documents with the court. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage an assigned caseload effectively. The paralegal must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications and possess excellent written and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail. Responsibilities

  • Drafting and preparing legal documents including pleadings, motions, orders, and correspondence.
  • Drafting and preparing contracts and estate planning documents.

  • Conducting legal research related to pleading and motion preparation.
  • Filing, scanning, and importing documents.
  • Calendaring and deadline computation and tickle system management.
  • Scheduling client meetings, hearings, mediations, and depositions.
  • Performing conflict checks.
  • Electronically filing documents with the court.
  • Managing assigned case load.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1+ years paralegal experience required.
  • Strong typing skills and ability to operate general office equipment such as telephones, copiers, printers, fax, and postage machines.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and experience with case management software preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.

  • College degree or paralegal certificate preferred, but not required.
