About the position

The primary purpose of the Paralegal is to assist the Legal Department with legal services across the organization. The Paralegal will support, monitor, and maintain legal documents in support of Company operations concerning claims and disputes, as well as ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for the organization's conduct of domestic and international business activities, including contractor licenses and qualifying parties. The Paralegal will be responsible for proactively maintaining and organizing entity electronic documentation and implementing the records management policy. The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, all built upon the foundation of Integrity. Specific responsibilities include preparing, submitting, and maintaining Contractor licenses for all entities, maintaining Legal Department Contract Files and Claims and Dispute Files, and performing legal and compliance research. The Paralegal will work efficiently in an electronic environment to automate documents for use in electronic contracting and maintain associated corporate electronic files and calendars. Additionally, the Paralegal will create and refine templates for automated documents, maintain a Claims and Dispute Calendar, and contribute to strategic planning initiatives. The role requires a strong commitment to safety and compliance, with responsibilities for personal safety and the safety of co-workers. The Paralegal must also maintain confidentiality regarding all Company information and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, submits, and maintains Contractor licenses for all entities.
  • Maintains Legal Department Contract Files and Claims and Dispute Files; organizes and files all electronic and hand-signed contract originals for all entities.
  • Performs legal and compliance research as needed.
  • Works efficiently in an electronic environment to automate documents for electronic contracting and maintain corporate electronic files and calendars.
  • Creates, refines, and organizes templates for automated documents for clarity and ease of use.
  • Maintains Claims and Dispute Calendar and provides access to relevant parties.
  • Contributes to strategic planning initiatives and assists with implementation of various information and administrative systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (strongly preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Paralegal certificate from ABA approved school preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of experience performing Legal Administration functions or equivalent Office Administration in a predominantly electronic environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency with knowledge of electronic contracting systems, particularly Thomson Reuters Contract Express software.
  • Superior skill with Microsoft Word, Adobe, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with a typing speed of at least 60 WPM.
  • Experience creating and managing computer databases of documents in Outlook and other applications.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects or tasks.
