About the position

The Kinetic Group is seeking a Paralegal to join its Legal and Compliance department at the Anoka, MN location. This role is pivotal in supporting two attorneys across various practice areas, with a primary focus on product liability, third-party due diligence compliance, and intellectual property. The Paralegal will engage in a variety of tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of the legal department. Key responsibilities include managing litigation files, which involves opening matters in Legal Tracker, maintaining electronic files, handling e-billing, providing status updates, and preparing monthly reports. The Paralegal will also be responsible for creating, disseminating, and managing litigation holds, as well as providing comprehensive litigation support. This includes drafting responses to discovery requests, interviewing document custodians, organizing document productions, and managing the e-discovery process. In addition to litigation support, the Paralegal will facilitate third-party risk management by coordinating vendor questionnaires and fulfilling due diligence requests. This role requires updating and documenting due diligence tracking in real-time and managing ongoing monitoring and termination strategies. The Paralegal will also assist in integrating the third-party due diligence process with new businesses, which includes drafting training materials and communicating processes to business stakeholders. Furthermore, the Paralegal will assist with intellectual property portfolio management, working closely with relevant business unit personnel to manage annuities and renewals in the CPI database, analyze trademark searches, and conduct preliminary trademark clearance searches. Administrative duties will also be part of the role, including filing, preparing correspondence, and managing travel and expense reports. The Paralegal will support other legal issues as assigned by the attorneys, making this a dynamic and multifaceted position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation file management including opening matters in Legal Tracker and maintaining electronic files.
  • Handle e-billing, status updates, monthly reporting, and data analytics.
  • Create, disseminate, and manage litigation holds.
  • Provide litigation support including drafting responses to discovery requests and interviewing document custodians.
  • Organize document productions and manage the e-discovery process.
  • Facilitate third-party risk management including coordination of Vendor Questionnaires and due diligence requests.
  • Update and document due diligence tracking with real-time status and escalate follow-up items as needed.
  • Manage ongoing monitoring and termination/off-boarding strategies.
  • Assist in the integration of the third-party due diligence process with new businesses.
  • Draft training materials and communicate the company's process to business stakeholders.
  • Assist with intellectual property portfolio management and manage annuities and renewals in CPI database.
  • Analyze trademark search and brand protection reviews for threats of infringements.
  • Conduct preliminary trademark clearance searches.
  • Perform administrative duties including filing, preparing correspondence, and managing travel and expense reports.

Requirements

  • A paralegal certificate and/or bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of paralegal experience.
  • Experience with product liability litigation is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of the discovery process, including obligations around the preservation and production of documents.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, particularly with respect to document collection and production.
  • Good people skills with a positive approach to daily tasks.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Skill with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products; Legal Tracker experience is a plus.
  • Open to working in multiple areas of law.
  • Motivated initiative-taker who can work under general supervision.
  • Ability to manage numerous matters simultaneously under tight deadlines and pressure.
