About the position

The Paramedic is a certified and/or licensed professional who plays a crucial role in the Emergency Department (ED) patient care team. This position involves working collaboratively with nursing staff under the direct supervision of a licensed physician to provide advanced life support, administer medications, and evaluate patients based on their clinical skills. The ED Paramedic is responsible for maintaining a safe and organized patient environment while assisting in various patient care tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Completely operates patient monitoring equipment, records rhythm strips, runs 12 lead EKGs, biomarkers, and glucometer readings under the direction of the licensed physician.
  • Performs phlebotomy, collects laboratory specimens as ordered, and inserts saline lock and nasal gastric tubes under the direction of the licensed physician.
  • Assists in patient care, obtains and documents vital signs, provides patient hygiene, and maintains clear and respectful communications with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment, and manages all assigned supplies and equipment.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in setting up and performing procedures as delegated.
  • Transports patients to radiology and nursing units (except ICU) utilizing appropriate transport and monitoring equipment.
  • Complies with the Hospital's defined job description and competencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • EMT P License in state of employment
  • BLS certification
