Norman Regional EMSSTAT operates 24/7 to provide pre-hospital stabilization and life-saving care on over 30,000 responses each year. The team works closely with medical directors, physicians, and nurses across four Emergency Departments, responding to all 911 medical and trauma emergencies, inter-facility transports, and event standbys. The EMSSTAT team collaborates with Centers for Excellence on STEMI and stroke care, and partners with public safety agencies to deliver a comprehensive range of EMS response capabilities in Moore, Norman, and surrounding areas. The EMSSTAT unit includes specialized teams such as SWAT Medics, an active bike team, and a regional disaster medical response team (DMRT) equipped with a large response trailer. This position requires performing emergency and stabilizing procedures using protocols as directed by the EMS Medical Director, alongside independent judgment. The role involves providing routine and emergency medical care, extrication, and transportation of ill and injured persons, as well as responding to emergency and routine requests for transportation to and from medical facilities. Assessing patients to determine the nature and acuity of illness or injury and administering appropriate medical treatment utilizing independent judgment and established protocols or standing orders is a critical aspect of this position.
