About the position

The Paramedic role at Acadian Ambulance involves providing timely and efficient pre-hospital advanced, intermediate, and basic life support care to the sick and injured. This position requires adherence to local, state, national, and company standards of practice while ensuring safe transportation of patients to medical facilities. The Paramedic is responsible for patient assessment, administering care, documentation, and maintaining equipment, all while operating the ambulance safely in various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness/injury.
• Administer basic, intermediate, and advanced life support care within licensure limits and approved protocols.
• Provide safe and efficient transport of patients to medical facilities.
• Document all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Conduct regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure readiness.
• Report needed repairs to maintenance departments and supervisors.
• Operate and drive the ambulance safely, following company guidelines.
• Attend mandatory meetings and complete assigned station duties.
• Train new employees and precept EMT-Basic, Intermediate, and Paramedic students as directed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Valid state-issued driver's license appropriate for the role.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
• Knowledge of company protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional certifications such as NALS, PALS, PHTLS, PEEP, and Instructor certifications.
