About the position

The Paramedic position at Acadian Ambulance Service Inc. involves providing timely and efficient pre-hospital advanced, intermediate, and basic life support care to the sick and injured. The role requires adherence to local, state, national, and company standards of practice while ensuring safe transportation of patients to medical facilities. Paramedics are responsible for patient assessment, administering care, documenting treatment, and maintaining equipment readiness.

Responsibilities

• Conducts careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness/injury.
• Administers basic, intermediate, and advanced life support care within licensure limits.
• Provides safe and efficient transport of patients to medical facilities.
• Documents all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Conducts regular unit inventory and equipment testing.
• Responsible for the proper use and knowledge of ambulance equipment.
• Operates and drives the ambulance safely and efficiently.
• Attends mandatory meetings and completes assigned station duties.
• Orders supplies and equipment to replenish inventories as needed.
• Trains new employees and precepts EMT students as directed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of company protocols and safety policies.
• Ability to drive large vehicles in various conditions.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional certifications such as NALS, PALS, PHTLS, PEEP, and Instructor certifications.
