About the position

As a Paramedic at Acadian Ambulance Service, you will provide timely pre-hospital medical care and efficient transportation for the sick and injured, adhering to established standards and protocols. This role involves conducting patient assessments, administering life support, and ensuring safe transport to medical facilities while maintaining equipment and documenting patient care details. You will also contribute to the training of new personnel within the emergency medical services context.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments for signs and symptoms of illness/injury.
  • Administer basic, intermediate, and advanced life support care according to protocols.
  • Ensure safe and efficient transport of patients to medical facilities.
  • Document all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
  • Maintain and test equipment to ensure it is clean and in working order.
  • Drive the ambulance safely and efficiently, following company guidelines.
  • Train new employees and precept EMT-Basic, Intermediate, and Paramedic students as directed.
  • Complete assigned station and ambulance duties, including cleaning and inventory management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
  • Current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association.
  • Current ACLS certification as established by the American Heart Association.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license appropriate for the role.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with employees and managers.
  • Knowledge of company protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional certifications such as NALS, PALS, PHTLS, PEEP, and Instructor certifications.
