About the position

The Paramedic serves as the lead-worker of a two-person emergency medical service team. The position is responsible for responding to dispatched emergencies and transport requests and ensures that proper Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) pre-hospital care is provided. Manages the operation of an emergency vehicle and safeguards Lake County Emergency Medical Services' equipment and supplies. Maintains the security of medications and narcotics. Prepares various written reports on actions taken. This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Respond to dispatched emergencies and transport requests.
• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) pre-hospital care.
• Manage the operation of an emergency vehicle.
• Safeguard Lake County Emergency Medical Services' equipment and supplies.
• Maintain the security of medications and narcotics.
• Prepare written reports on actions taken.
• Assist with emergency support functions during declared emergencies.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of experience as an EMT Basic or Paramedic.
• ACLS Certificate.
• CPR for Healthcare Providers.
• 16 Hour EVOC certificate or equivalent.
• Florida Class 'E' Driver's license.
• Vocational/technical training or related field or equivalent education, training, and experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of ALS and BLS care principles.
• Knowledge of Lake County Emergency Medical Services medical protocols and practices.
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythm strips.
• Knowledge of pharmaceuticals including proper and generic names, dosages, routes of administration, contraindications, and possible allergic reactions.
