About the position

The Paramedic is responsible for providing advanced life support (ALS) care in accordance with Kentucky regulations and Owensboro Health Community Hospital guidelines. This role involves responding to emergency situations, stabilizing patients, and ensuring safe transport to medical facilities while maintaining high standards of patient care and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Navigate ambulance to patient's location.
• Provide stabilization of scene and request additional assistance as necessary.
• Determine nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
• Administer emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation.
• Contact medical personnel, report and record observations, and follow directives.
• Maintain equipment, restock supplies, and clean ambulance as necessary.
• Ensure safe operation of all EMS vehicles in accordance with Kentucky Motor Vehicle care.
• Demonstrate proficiency in required BLS and ALS skills.
• Maintain personal knowledge and skills to deliver optimum patient care as an EMT-P.
• Establish and maintain effective working relations with team members and other emergency services.
• Supervise the performance of EMT and EMT-A.
• Document all patient care, assessments, and service reports in a timely manner.
• Participate in training and evaluation of EMTS when approved and requested.
• Be punctual and ready for all shifts.
• Act professionally and handle conflict and stressful situations with good judgment.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or higher required upon hire.
• Licensed Paramedic in the state of Kentucky required upon hire.
• Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire.
• Certified as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire.
• Valid driver's license and 21 years of age required upon hire.
