About the position

The Flight Paramedic role at Med-Trans Corporation involves working with a team of air transportation experts to provide safe and efficient patient care during air transport. The position emphasizes high safety standards and effective patient care, requiring the paramedic to manage various responsibilities related to patient documentation, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with medical personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and submit electronic patient care records for each dispatched flight within the specified time frame.
  • Conduct daily base checks, including narcotic count.
  • Provide pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is transferred to the accepting medical facility, ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Maintain competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills through ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.
  • Document required licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety, and advanced procedures in the Employee Education Manual.
  • Be knowledgeable in the use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by emergency programs.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
  • Function as a medical flight member.
  • Attend pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings, completing necessary documentation.
  • Assist in pre-mission liftoff checklist and provide pilot assistance when needed, including radio, navigational, and visual observation activities.
  • Comply with safety standards to ensure the safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment prior to liftoff.
  • Conduct aircraft safety briefings as needed.
  • Fill open or vacant shifts within the assigned area as deemed appropriate by the Regional Director.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years' experience in an ALS or critical care setting.
  • Current EMT-P license/certification in the states served by the assigned area.
  • NREMT-P certification in state(s) where required.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP required prior to flight status (NRP certification is provided during New Hire Training).

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior flight experience.
  • Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, ITLS/PHTLS.
