About the position

The Paraprofessional Virtual Speech Assistant will support classroom teachers in achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups, particularly in the context of virtual speech and language services. This role involves reinforcing learning, assisting with special strategies for students, and maintaining ethical standards of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
• Assist teachers in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students' needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips.
• Monitor progress of students receiving services and provide accommodations based on their IEPs.
• Communicate with the general education teacher regarding any issues or special information about individual students.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior regarding student information.
• Provide assistance primarily to students receiving virtual Speech and Language services, and assist in other classrooms as needed.

Requirements

• 2 years of college experience or an Associate's degree or a Paraprofessional Certificate.
• Completed 48 credit hours of college-level classes.
• Experience with Special Education Instruction is preferred.
