About the position

The Family Development Specialist position at Outreach involves providing home-based education and support services to families, focusing on enhancing parent-child interactions and overall family well-being. The role requires making home visits, planning educational activities, and collaborating with community partners to connect families with necessary resources. This position is integral to promoting family stability and economic self-sufficiency within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Make home visits to families providing support in areas of development including Parent-Child Interaction and Home Safety.
  • Maintain related files and complete program-related data entry.
  • Participate in team meetings and reflective supervision to ensure model fidelity.
  • Plan individual and group activities with children and parents to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of weekly play groups and Parent Cafes.
  • Collaborate with community partners and human service agencies to link families to resources.
  • Provide participant referrals to schools, early intervention programs, and mental health services as needed.
  • Provide follow-up to families and maintain appropriate record keeping.
  • Participate in a team process focused on best practices to serve families and the community.
  • Represent the agency at public events as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in elementary education, neuroscience, early childhood education, social work, or a similar field.
  • Familiarity with at-risk populations and openness to working with diverse cultures and families with economic challenges.
  • Ability to teach relevant programming using evidence-based curriculum.
  • Good understanding of family dynamics, child development, and psychology.
  • Completion of required evidence-based home visiting training and certification is mandatory.
  • Ongoing professional development is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred.
