About the position

The Parent Educator position at Family & Children's Agency (FCA) involves implementing the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model to support families in a culturally sensitive manner. The role focuses on promoting parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and overall family well-being through personalized home visits and resources. The educator will engage with families primarily in Norwalk and Bridgeport, conducting assessments, delivering educational content, and connecting families with community resources.

Responsibilities

• Conduct recruitment activities to engage families in the program.
• Complete initial and annual family-centered assessments.
• Develop, monitor, and review family goals regularly.
• Deliver consistent personal visits, focusing on parent-child interaction, parenting strategies, and family well-being.
• Utilize the PAT Foundational Curriculum to provide research-based information.
• Organize group connections for families to build social connections and support children's development.
• Perform developmental screenings and health reviews for enrolled children.
• Connect families with community resources to address needs and achieve goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in child development, psychology, nursing, human services, or related field preferred; Associate degree required.
• Experience working with ethnically diverse families with young children (under six years).
• Experience conducting home visits and working in community-based settings.
• Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for regional and statewide travel.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
