About the position

The Parent Mentor Program Coordinator (PMC) at Enlace Chicago plays a crucial role in fostering parent engagement within schools in the Little Village Community. This part-time, seasonal position involves overseeing the Parent Mentor Program (PMP), supporting and mentoring Parent Mentors, and collaborating with school administration to enhance parent-teacher relationships and community resources. The PMC is responsible for recruiting and training Parent Mentors, ensuring compliance with safety policies, and facilitating workshops and community leadership events.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Parent Mentor Program (PMP) at the assigned school.
• Recruit a cohort of Parent Mentors for the school year.
• Supervise the Parent Mentors in collaboration with the Lead PM Organizer.
• Ensure compliance with Enlace Chicago and school district safety policies.
• Plan and facilitate initial PM training and weekly workshops for Parent Mentors.
• Conduct observations of classroom work or virtual sessions for each Parent Mentor at least once per semester.
• Submit necessary paperwork and data, including monthly reports and program evaluations.
• Engage Parent Mentors in community leadership beyond the classroom.
• Support and motivate the Parent Mentor cohort to build leadership and unity.
• Attend weekly check-ins with the Parent Organizer and other Parent Mentor Coordinators.

Requirements

• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Commitment to social justice and working with parents and immigrant communities.
• Effective communication and organizing skills, including strong writing and research abilities.
• Highly motivated, dedicated, self-starter, and detail-oriented.
• Flexible schedule, with availability for evening and weekend hours.
• Computer literacy, preferably with Google and Office Suites.
