About the position

San Bernardino County Regional Parks is currently seeking energetic and customer service-focused individuals who enjoy the great outdoors to fill part-time, seasonal positions as Park Aides. These positions are crucial for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the parks, providing excellent customer service, and assisting Regional Parks staff during various events. The recruitment will be utilized to fill positions across multiple parks located throughout San Bernardino County, including Prado (Chino), Cucamonga-Guasti (Ontario), Glen Helen (San Bernardino), Mojave Narrows (Victorville), Calico Ghost Town (Yermo, near Barstow), and Yucaipa (Yucaipa). Candidates are encouraged to indicate their preferred locations during the application process. The Regional Parks Department manages and maintains nine Regional Parks across San Bernardino County, encompassing approximately 8,000 acres, which includes one Preserve and one Regional Trail. Each park offers diverse outdoor recreation opportunities in settings that range from metropolitan to mountain and desert scenery. The department aims to provide residents and visitors with opportunities to host events and enjoy the natural and cultural resources of the County. Employee roles within the department vary from customer service to program coordination, as well as maintenance and safety, with a commitment to evolving and enhancing the experiences for both visitors and employees. As a Park Aide, candidates must be available to work varied schedules, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. These are part-time positions, with hours ranging from 0 to 30 hours per week, and assignments will be made based on the needs of the Parks Department. It is important to note that these positions are classified as Public Service Employees (PSE), which are recurrent and non-regular roles. Successful candidates will be considered at-will throughout their employment and will not attain regular status. Additionally, candidates must successfully complete a background check, including fingerprinting, prior to appointment. The physical demands of the job include frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of items weighing up to 60 pounds, as well as walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and climbing on uneven surfaces. Employees will work outdoors year-round, often under extreme weather conditions.
