Responsibilities

  • Enforce federal, state, and local laws and park rules and regulations to protect park visitors.
  • Perform emergency duties to safeguard human life, government property, and natural features.
  • Investigate incidents and complaints such as vehicular accidents, vandalism, and trespassing.
  • Testify in court as required regarding law enforcement activities.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and district attorneys for arrests and prosecutions.
  • Patrol and inspect the park by vehicle, foot, bicycle, and boat to ensure security.
  • Educate visitors on the importance of protecting natural and cultural resources.
  • Assist overnight guests with customer service duties and provide tourism information.
  • Perform maintenance, custodial, inspections, and fee collection tasks as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports related to park operations and law enforcement duties.
  • Complete required training, including POST Council Certification and First-Aid/CPR.
  • Assist in the development and training of Ranger 1's for qualifications towards Ranger 2.
  • Participate in special events and activities within the park, coordinating with various agencies.

Requirements

  • Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of application.
  • Willingness and ability to carry firearms.
  • Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.
  • No physical disabilities that would prevent functioning as a law enforcement officer.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $2,917.00 - $5,904.00 Monthly based on experience.
