About The Position

The Park Ranger position at T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park involves providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management. The role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and perform various skilled trade functions. The ranger will engage with visitors, manage park resources, maintain facilities, and ensure compliance with park regulations while working rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Valid Florida Class E driver's license or an out-of-state equivalent.
• Knowledge of Florida's natural and cultural resources.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Skills in operating a cash register and reconciling receipts.
• Experience in grounds and building maintenance, including mowing, pressure washing, and painting.
• Basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in public speaking and conducting interpretive programs.
• Familiarity with CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide visitor services by explaining facilities and services, answering questions, and resolving complaints.
• Implement resource management plans, including vegetation and wildlife management, and collect resource management data.
• Conduct maintenance of park structures, facilities, and grounds through routine inspections and repairs.
• Prepare administrative reports and manage purchasing and fiscal activities in compliance with established procedures.
• Perform routine patrols and security checks to ensure adherence to park rules and regulations.
