About the position

This position is a temporary role focused on educating and informing visitors about the significance of natural resources and the laws related to their protection from aquatic nuisance species. The role involves inspecting and decontaminating watercraft, ensuring boater compliance, and promoting responsible resource use in support of the National Park Service's mission. The job is seasonal, with an anticipated entry on duty between March and July 2025, and may vary based on weather conditions and project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Educate visitors about natural resources and laws regarding aquatic nuisance species.
  • Inspect and decontaminate boats of various types and sizes.
  • Conduct boater compliance checks.
  • Facilitate visitor contacts to promote understanding of park resources and safety.
  • Encourage responsible visitor behavior in resource management.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-4 level in the Federal service, or a Bachelor's degree with 24 semester hours of related coursework, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with specific educational qualifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fish and wildlife management, recreation management, or law enforcement.
  • Knowledge of natural resource management and park operations.
