About The Position

The Park Ranger position at Yosemite National Park involves engaging with visitors, providing information on park regulations, and participating in various programs such as search and rescue and wildland fire management. The role requires proactive patrolling, mentoring team members, and maintaining positive relationships across divisions. This temporary position is open for applications until a maximum of 50 applicants are received or until the closing date, whichever comes first.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-04 level in the Federal service or a combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of at least four years of undergraduate education in a relevant field or a combination of education and experience for GS-05 level.
  • At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-05 level for GS-07 level or a combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in law enforcement or investigative work.
  • Knowledge of natural resource management or park and recreation management.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the park's mounted patrol program and emergency services.
  • Interact with visitors to provide information on park regulations and Leave No Trace ethics.
  • Manage parking and visitor use issues during peak times.
  • Proactively patrol on horseback in the park's front country and wilderness areas.
  • Mentor team members and serve as a liaison between employees and management.
