About the position

The Park Ranger (Interpretation) position at the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument involves developing and presenting educational programs to enhance visitor engagement and understanding of the park's resources. The role includes conducting guided walks, presentations, and informal interpretations, while promoting visitor safety and stewardship of park resources. This position is open to U.S. citizens and requires a commitment to delivering high-quality educational experiences in a variety of park settings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and present a variety of educational programs including guided walks and illustrated talks.
• Provide informal interpretation and orientation for park guests in visitor centers and while roving in the field.
• Perform cashier duties and assist with special projects to support park goals.
• Promote the safety of park visitors and stewardship of park resources.
• Lead guided tours and respond to visitor inquiries for information and guidance.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the federal service, or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester hours of related coursework, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Ability to operate a government motor vehicle and possess a valid State driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in environmental education or teaching.
• Background in law enforcement or investigative work.
• Experience in archaeological or historical preservation research.
