About The Position

The Park Ranger position at Cayo Costa State Park involves providing visitor services, resource management, maintenance, administration, and protection of the park's natural and cultural resources. The role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and perform various skilled trade functions. The ranger will engage with visitors, manage park resources, and ensure the safety and enjoyment of the park for all guests.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of Florida's natural and cultural resources.
• Good public relations skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Experience in grounds and building maintenance, including basic plumbing and electrical work.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with public speaking and conducting interpretive programs.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software.

Responsibilities

• Provide visitor services by explaining facilities and services, answering questions, and resolving complaints.
• Participate in resource management tasks, including prescribed fire execution and wildlife management.
• Maintain park structures, facilities, and grounds through routine inspections and maintenance practices.
• Prepare reports and forms related to park operations, including visitation and vehicle usage.
• Conduct routine patrols and security checks to ensure adherence to park rules and regulations.
