About the position

The Park Ranger position at Arizona State Parks and Trails involves managing and conserving the state's natural, cultural, and recreational resources. The role includes interpreting natural features and historic artifacts for visitors, ensuring public safety by enforcing park rules, and providing customer service. The position requires working evenings, weekends, and holidays, and involves a variety of skilled tasks related to park operations.

Responsibilities

  • Host visitors and conduct interpretive programs.
  • Provide information in response to visitor questions and concerns.
  • Promote the safety of park visitors and enforce park rules.
  • Utilize two-way radio communications system for safety checks.
  • Complete necessary reports concerning incidents and park operations.
  • Provide customer service by phone and in-person regarding park inquiries.
  • Perform cashier duties at the Contact Station/Gift Shop and manage park admission fees.

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Driver's License appropriate to assignment.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Experience in public relations and customer service.
  • Knowledge of park rules, fees, and revenue functions.
  • Ability to conduct interpretive programs and research natural or historical information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Park Management, Natural Resources Management, Recreation, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in park operations, interpretation, and education.
